Through the eyes of Nathan Haas…
So we knew it would be beautiful, anybody that’s heard of Croatia knows it’s a land of natural beauty. But the question is as a rider, do we ever get to take it in? Normally no. We are either too focused, or in the middle of nowhere! Croatia was different, the middle of everywhere was incredible.
Being only two years fresh to the UCI calendar, and seemingly paid for by tourism Croatia, the race is working hard to get it off the ground and into the realm of being a Cyclo tourist destination, so key tourist areas were not missed. Which is different from a lot of races. ( I still dream of a Giro finish in central Rome.)
In my fifth year pro, I can safely say now that I’ve been around. So when I say few races have been this stunning, with as many different vistas from mountain ranges, rocky outcrops, thick forest to Mediterranean coast line, I feel this is no light call.
Whilst the race is still in its infancy, my appreciation for the country is not. A well established love for The countryside with a big recommendation to go see it!
