with Cyclingtips, and 4 pros.
Shortly after the conclusion of the final stage of the Tour Down Under, four riders embarked on an addition “stage 7” of the race.
A short ride away, in an empty carpark, in the blazing late afternoon sun, these 4 guys, feeling the lack of time trial in the week’s racing went for the challenge of being crowned rickshaw TT champion of the Tour Down Under. Koen de Kort, Nathan Haas, Carter Jones and Michael Gogl went full blast on two laps of the carpark, passenger in tow, with the bikes kindly lent to the production by a local company.
Of course, the whole thing was Orchestrated by Dave Everett of Shoddy Cycling/Cycling Tips. If you don’t know this guy, you are missing out. He’s got the film coming out later today, on Cycling Tips we won’t reveal the winner here, best to watch the full film. Added bonus: the loser had to be the presentation master, no flowers but kisses on the cheeks, for the top 3 placements.
We were psyched to be part of the film crew, although slightly terrified of Koen’s cornering skills.
Thinking next year of upping the quota to at least 12 riders, heats, qualifications and maybe a bonus knock out round… and maybe stealing more than one bottle of champers from the press room for the podium presentation.
