Girona Charity Gala!

Matt Brammeier and Nathan Haas launch night for Qhubeka

Matt Brammeier and Nathan Haas, professional cyclists for Team Dimension Data, and Nikki Harris-Brammeier, professional cyclist for Boels-Dolmans are proud to announce the inaugural Girona Gala. This year’s charity partner for the event is the Qhubeka foundation. Of course, we at The Peloton Brief, are the sort of unofficial media partner/ volunteer press officer. So hit us up with any questions!

The Girona Gala will be a formal gala soiree held at the beautiful local venue “El Jardin” in the heart of the historic city centre of Girona. The dinner and festivities will be on the 22nd of October 2016. Following the dinner there will be a live auction of cycling memorabilia, bikes, and many other bespoke pieces.

Matt Brammeier’s take on it?:  ”I was chatting over a coffee with one of our friends at Deloitte – Tom Galizia a couple of months ago, we both agreed that we, as riders should & could do more to promote & help our charity partner Qhubeka. Just a few weeks later during the Tour of California myself & Nathan, who is also pretty passionate about Qhubeka, bashed around a few ideas & it didn’t take us long to come up with the idea of a Gala Dinner & Ride in Girona. We’ve always done what we can but we both agreed we wanted to go that extra mile. So far we have had so much fun & such an amazing response working on this project, the 22nd October cant come fast enough”

Matt, Nathan and other pros will also be offering some guided “café” rides earlier that day for ticket holders of the event. Nathan Haas said: “We’ve been thinking for ages that it would be great to bring a cycling charity event to our home in Girona, and Qhubeka is the best excuse for it we could imagine. Working on this event has been a great way as well to bond with a teammate over things beyond just racing. We both love the chance to do more for Qhubeka than what is required, and we really hope to see the continued success of this partnership and event for years to come. Oh, and of course, this is gonna be a rocking good time. We love any excuse for a damn good end of season party.”

The 2016 event is being presented with additional support from Dimension Data & Deloitte, who have kindly offered services and support to ensure the viability and maximum charity fundraising.
