Behind the scenes with the Dimension Data crew.
3 riders. One awesome Airbnb. 4 days to prep:
A converted Victorian house was team HQ for the days. New team colours for Ben O’Connor meant a few days of time to get to know his new team-mates, and ride with the guys, cook meals and generally shoot the shit.
No trip to Ballarat is complete without a lake ride and a stop at the fantastic Racers’ cafe on the lake. Good vibes, good coffee, and a round of Red Frogs for the non aussie neo-phyte.
Frenchie the massage therapist would drop in each evening for treatment, as the guys swapped off making dinner in between time on the table. (Can we say, 3 riders, 3 different diet plans and one small kitchen: pure chaos in the best way.)
Race morning moments: watching the tennis, having a coffee and Ben wearing his sunglasses inside?
Oh yea, there was a race. Sorry we were on bottle duty all day so didn’t get to take too many pictures. But SHiiiiiiiit that was one serious race. The Ballarat one day classic. Congrats to Nathan Haas for the podium finish, and thanks for delivering that giant Mars Bar.
